I own a 95 gas wagon and over my year-and-a-half experience (around 17k miles) during which I consistently tracked and calculated fuel economy at every fill-up (and there are a LOT of ´em in there, believe me), I have never realized less than 9 mpg for a single tank of gas.

Under normal engine loads, this results in a stratified charge that puts a relatively rich mixture in touch with the spark for dependable ignition, then becomes leaner and leaner toward the cylinder circumference until it´s nothing but pure air.

After that the three most important things to check for on a compact SUV is the interior room, turning radius, and fuel mileage.
